The Season Has Begun

Image
Brandon got his first Christmas presents today- our lovely part-time neighbors that spend their weeks in Chicago and weekends up here. 5 wrapped gifts. She had him drive down to her house with the john deere gator to pick up the load. Brandon was more than willing to cooperate. I told him some of these might be clothes and he said, "nah - no one would give underpants for Christmas" Just wait, my boy. St Nick has a big suprise for you.....

Black Friday- or Greyish Thursday

Image
I made it.  I survived.  My friend, Jen and I tagged along with veteran shopper friend, Jodi.  We met at Target at 10:30 pm on Thanksgiving night and shopped until 5am.  It wasn't as bad as I thought it might be.  Although, we did stop at Children's Place and Shopko and chose not buying anything to avoid standing in lines.   The rest of the stores were not as bad as they could have been, and from what I hear, were not as bad as every other year.   The stores opened too early this year.  Some at 9pm or 10pm and most everything was open (EXCEPT STARBUCKS- DUH) by midnight. I left the girls about 5am and drove back to my town - got a second wind and ended up at 3 more stores before I called it a "night" (or morning).  I got home by 7:30am on Black Friday.   If you go very organized and with a couple of friends, it can be fun.  I would rather get up at 2am, though.   Staying up all night ends up feeling like ...

All Gobbled Out

He lasted about three minutes once we got in the car...too much thanksgiving fun, i think. Right before he fell asleep he asked if we could stop at McDonalds on the way home! Crazy boy. Happy thanksgiving to all!

Gobble Gobble

Gobble Gobble everyone. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Brandon and I made this goofy turkey. He was grateful for each person at the table - which is why I only added the beginning part of why he was thankful for me....."because mommy gives me hugs and skittles every time if go poopy" I rock, I know.

The Purpose

B says ...his ears are made to hear (not necessarily to listen) ...his eyes are made to see ...his nose is made for boogers.

White Pheasant Chili

Image
Well, it looks good.   Not sure how it tastes, but I have to use the pheasant the hubby shot last weekend.   This weekend, there will be more..... 1-2 lbs of pheasant - lightly poached white chicken chili seasoning mix from McCormick 1 can green chilies 1 15 oz can S&W white beans (undrained) 1 cup water 3/4 cup chicken stock Boil meat slowly.  Cut and cube into 1-2" pieces. 2T oil in kettle - once hot, toss in cubed pheasant and fry until no longer pink.  Add water, chicken stock, green chilies and seasoning mix.  Bring to boil and simmer for minimum of 30 minutes.  Serve with shredded cheeese, avocado slices, cilantro or sour cream.   I think I may make some rice or noodles to pour it over.   ...not entirely convinced that i am having this for dinner... but I be sure to sample it.  (i think)

Crisp, clean and white.

Ok, it seems rediculous that I could ignore this window for so long. It is also hard to imagine how terrible it looked before I painted it today. Wow, what a coat of paint can do.
